Chinese National Office of Philosophy and Social Sciences recently announced research projects on major historical issues which are granted by Chinese National social science Fund. The project leading by Professor Hou Jianxin won the grant , which is A Comparative Study of Medieval Chinese and European Civilizations.

A Comparative Study of Medieval Chinese and European Civilizations shows its grand vision and combines Chinese and Western history. The research team is built on core researchers from the Institute of European Civilization and the College of History and Culture,it also consists of experts on various fields of European and Chinese history. The project aims to tease out general concerns of Chinese and foreign academy and break barriers between the subjects of Chinese and world history in China. It intends to enhance the understanding of European civilization, to assert the status of Chinese Civilization in history of the world, and to promote comparing and mutual learning between Chinese and European civilizations.
